Brendan Rodgers rues form of Petr Cech as Liverpool draw at Arsenal

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers was delighted with the performance of his side in their 0-0 draw with Arsenal as they were frustrated by the form of goalkeeper Petr Cech.

Liverpool dominated the first half but were unable to find a way past Cech, who made world-class saves to deny Christian Benteke and Philippe Coutinho.

Rodgers told BBC Sport: "I thought we were very good. First half Petr Cech was the man of the match.

"Second half we were always a threat going forward. The players worked ever so hard."

He added to Sky Sports: "I thought we were outstanding, we showed everything. You heard Petr Cech getting a round of applause for the saves he made.

"Overall we kept a good clean sheet but disappointed we didn't win. It is about keeping really well organised.

"Both goalkeepers made good saves. A really good clean sheet against a top team. We saw how our team is growing."

Rodgers is still to see his side concede this season but was also left bemoaning the missed chances that could have given the visitors the win.

"We definitely could have had all three points," he said. "Performance-wise I was very happy with how we worked. First half in particular we created chances and should have been in front. In the second half you always expect pressure.

"Our performance level has grown over time our defensive organisation is good against big teams.

"Cech had a period of 10 to 15 minutes when he made some magnificent saves. Congratulations to the keeper. Simon Mignolet had to make some good saves as well of course."

Asked about Mario Balotelli's impending return to AC Milan, Rodgers said: "[I have] nothing to add on any transfers."
