Liverpool's Jordan Henderson could miss Arsenal game with foot injury

Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson could be set to miss next Monday's Premier League trip to Arsenal after aggravating a foot injury.

Henderson, 25, has been struggling with the problem for several days and was only able to play in Monday's 1-0 victory over Bournemouth after having a painkilling injection.

But he had to come off after 52 minutes and needed a scan on Tuesday to determine the extent of the injury, sources have told ESPN FC.

The midfielder is expected to receive the results on Wednesday and will find out whether he can play against Arsenal.

Liverpool do not believe that he has broken any bones in his foot, but there is concern that the injury may need rest.

Henderson, who replaced Steven Gerrard as captain before the start of this season, has started both of Liverpool's opening two league games alongside summer signing James Milner in midfield.

Emre Can, who replaced Henderson during Monday's match, would be the likeliest candidate to start against Arsenal if the captain is unavailable.
