Liverpool can finish top of the Premier League next season - Divock Origi

Liverpool striker Divock Origi has claimed that the Anfield club should aim to win the Premier League next season, as the Belgian prepares to return from his season-long loan to Lille.

Origi signed for Liverpool last summer and struggled to make a mark during his loan spell at Lille after scoring just eight goals in 33 games in Ligue 1.

However, the 20-year-old's confidence does not appear to have been shaken, as he has been talked up Liverpool's hopes ahead of making his debut for the Merseyside club.

"I think Liverpool is a wonderful club that deserves to be at the top and to be honest, with the players they have, with the quality they have, then they should be finishing at the top of the league," Origi said.

"I'm very happy to be going there. Brendan Rodgers is a very good coach and he has proved that, so it will be very exciting to work with a world class coach.

"It's always nice to play with good players. The important thing is that I work hard and then I think everything will be okay."

Origi will be looking to help to solve the goalscoring woes that affected Liverpool negatively during the Premier League and cup competitions this season. Origi's nomination in L'Equipe's worst team of the French league season last week suggests the striker still needs to convince critics that he has the qualities to shine in England's top flight.
