Steven Gerrard's Liverpool career is coming to an end, so here is a year-by-year analysis of what the great No. 8 has done at the club.
2000-01: Helps Houllier's Reds claim a treble of trophies in the same campaign -- the League Cup, FA Cup and UEFA Cup. Scores 10 goals along the way, including one in the European final against Alaves. Named Professional Footballers' Association Young Player of the Year.
2001-02: Adds the European Super Cup to his haul of silverware as Liverpool beat Bayern Munich 3-2 in Monaco in August. Goes on to help the Merseysiders finish second in the Premier League.
2002-03: Liverpool can only come fifth in the top flight, but Gerrard claims another trophy as the Reds defeat Manchester United 2-0 in the League Cup final, the midfielder scoring the opening goal.
2003-04: Appointed Liverpool captain by Houllier in October, taking over from Sami Hyypia. Signs a new contract with the Reds, taking him through to 2007, but then considers leaving the club at the end of a season that finishes trophyless and leads to Houllier's departure.
2004-05: Stays on under new boss Rafael Benitez and savours Champions League glory, firing Liverpool into the knock-out rounds with a memorable goal against Olympiakos and inspiring his side to a dramatic comeback victory in the final against AC Milan. Nets an own-goal in League Cup final loss to Chelsea.
2005-06: Having again decided to remain with Liverpool, signing a contract extension over the summer after having looked set to join Chelsea, Gerrard has a vintage season, scoring 23 goals, including two in a thrilling FA Cup final win over West Ham. Named PFA Player of the Year.
2006-07: Gerrard helps Liverpool reach another Champions League final -- via a last-four victory over Chelsea -- but this time it ends in defeat as Milan gain revenge for two years earlier by triumphing 2-1.
2007-08: Another big-scoring campaign, Gerrard hitting 21 goals for Liverpool over the course of the season. The Reds reach the semifinals of the Champions League, but on this occasion they are beaten by Chelsea.
2008-09: Gerrard gets a personal-best goals tally in a season for the Reds of 24, with the club finishing as runners-up in the Premier League behind Manchester United. Claims the Football Writers' Association Footballer of the Year award.
2009-10: Benitez's last season in charge at Liverpool sees Gerrard score 12 times. The Merseysiders can only manage a seventh-placed finish in the Premier League, and after group-stage elimination from the Champions League, they reach the Europa League semi-finals.
2010-11: A personal highlight for Gerrard is a second-half hat-trick against Napoli in the Europa League, but overall it is a disappointing campaign for Liverpool under Roy Hodgson and then Kenny Dalglish. The club come sixth in the Premier League.
2011-12: Liverpool's final league position dips to eighth, but Gerrard has silverware once again as the Reds win the League Cup by defeating Cardiff. They are beaten in the FA Cup final by Chelsea, and the skipper notches all three goals in a 3-0 win over Everton in March.
2012-13: Ends the season with no silverware and with the Reds -- now under Brendan Rodgers -- in seventh place in the Premier League, but subsequently signs a new contract extension.
2013-14: A superb season for Gerrard in which it looks like Liverpool are going to secure the Premier League title turns in one moment in April as his slip allows Demba Ba to score for Chelsea in their vital 2-0 win at Anfield. The Reds finish second in the table.
2014-15: Liverpool's comeback campaign in the Champions League ends at the group stage. Gerrard announces in January that he is to leave Anfield at the end of the season, describing it as ''toughest decision of his life.''
