Kolo Toure vows to continue playing football at Liverpool or elsewhere

Kolo Toure has told RMC he is not yet ready to retire despite fading from the first-team picture at Liverpool.

Toure, 34, has made just seven Premier League starts under Brendan Rodgers this season in the face of competition for places from Martin Skrtel, Dejan Lovren and Mamadou Sakho.

Out of contract at Anfield in the summer, the Ivory Coast international's future remains unclear, but the former Manchester City and Arsenal defender is determined his playing career will continue, wherever he ends up.

"It's a bit tough right now, because I'm not playng much. You adapt, there are a lot of defenders. It's not easy, but I manage to keep going. I am ready each time the manager calls on me to defend the colours of my club. I think I'll continue playing." said Toure, who retired from international football after his country's Nations Cup triumph in February.

"I have been lucky enough to play in big clubs. Now, I'm at the end of my contract. But I am still hungry and I still want to play football. It's an exceptional job. It's a job I love. I want to play for as long as possible, I try to enjoy it. We'll see when the time comes to stop. I hope I'll have the opportunity to find a club or continue with Liverpool."

The Mirror recently reported that Toure wants a two-year contract extension while Liverpool have offered only a single season, and that the centre-back may follow Steven Gerrard across the Atlantic where the New York Red Bulls have reportedly proposed a two-year deal.
