Liverpool defender Mamadou Sakho to miss at least three weeks

Liverpool defender Mamadou Sakho will be out for three to four weeks after suffering a hamstring injury, Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers confirmed after Monday night's game.

Scans have revealed the extent of the problem that forced the centre-back to come off during Wednesday's FA Cup quarterfinal replay win at Blackburn

It means that Sakho will not play in Sunday's FA Cup semifinal against Aston Villa at Wembley, and is likely to miss their next four Premier League matches.

The France international's injury setback is the third he has suffered this season.

After sustaining a thigh problem in late September, he did not play for Liverpool again until Dec. 17.

The 25-year-old then missed a further five matches with a hip injury he suffered in February.

Fellow centre-back Martin Skrtel will also miss Monday's Premier League match against Newcastle as he serves the final game of a three-match ban.

But Emre Can is available to return in the centre of defence after completing a one-match suspension.
