Gerrard, 34, has been unable to win back his starting role in Brendan Rodgers' side since returning from a hamstring injury, with the Liverpool coach naming an unchanged XI from the side that beat Swansea on Monday.
Van Gaal has also named an unchanged XI from the team that cruised to a 3-0 victory over Tottenham last Sunday, with Di Maria among the substitutes after serving a one-match suspension.
