Mario Balotelli hits out at fickle fans, saves goal celebration for Instagram

Mario Balotelli sent a message to fickle Liverpool supporters after scoring the team's winning goal against Tottenham on Tuesday.

The eccentric 24-year-old notably did not celebrate or even look very happy after netting his first Premier League goal of the season.

He walked directly down the tunnel at the final whistle and later posted a passive-aggressive message to fans on his Instagram account, writing, "This smile is ONLY for those that always Belive [sic] and support me."

Great game guys!!! This smile is ONLY for those that always Belive and support me. Thank you . ❤️ and Forza Liverpool. But now head down and keep working hard. Tonight is past.

Balotelli entered the game after 74 minutes with the game even at 2-2 and poked home the winner from Adam Lallana's cross less than 10 minutes later.

Some Liverpool fans had been understandably frustrated with the Italian after the marquee summer signing only scored once each in the Champions League and Capital One Cup.

Phil Neville was among the pundits who criticised Balotelli's reaction after breaking his Premier League duck, saying it appeared as if the striker did not want to take part in Liverpool's "team spirit."

Balotelli's goal was his first in the Premier League since November 2012, when he scored for Manchester City against Wigan.
