Liverpool's principal owner John W Henry has flown to the Middle East for a series of meetings that could open up sponsorship opportunities.

Henry arrived in Dubai on Tuesday, and although sources have told ESPN FC he is not there specifically on club duty, the Reds may benefit from business relationships built during the trip.

He has made the visit in order to assess how the region could benefit his businesses as a whole.

Former Liverpool chief executive Rick Parry, who has extensive contacts in the Middle East, has accompanied the Boston-based businessman on the trip.

Henry spent Wednesday in meetings with a number of key industry figures before watching Al Wasl draw 1-1 with Ajman in the United Arab Emirates League Cup.

The visit has come as Liverpool seek further sponsorship deals in order to increase income, as their chief commercial officer Billy Hogan told ESPN FC in an interview in October.

One deal being considered is the selling of naming rights for their Main Stand in order to help pay for its 75 million-pound expansion costs.

A planning application to increase the capacity of the stand by 8,500 seats to 21,000 by adding an extra tier was approved by Liverpool City Council on Sep. 23.

Subject to any late legal challenges to the decision, Liverpool hope to begin work on the new stand in early 2015, with the aim of getting it completed by August 2016.

The club are not considering selling the naming rights to Anfield as a whole.
