Police called after Mario Balotelli allegedly threatens woman over pics

Manchester police are investigating a claim that Liverpool striker Mario Balotelli threatened a woman who was taking pictures of his Ferrari.

A resident in the Wythenshawe area of Manchester is said to have called police after Balotelli allegedly moved towards her daughter as she was taking pictures of his red Ferrari F12 Berlinetta at around 3 p.m. on Thursday.

The Liverpool striker was said to have been visiting his mother's home in Manchester when the alleged incident took place.

A spokesman for Greater Manchester Police said: ''We are investigating a report of threatening behaviour following an incident in Pewsey Road, Wythenshawe.

''Officers will be speaking to all concerned in due course.''

Police sources said it was unlikely either party would be spoken to until Friday at the earliest.

Balotelli came under media fire on Thursday and was criticised publicly by Rodgers for swapping shirts with Real defender Pepe as the players walked off at the interval during Wednesday's 3-0 Champions League home loss to Real Madrid.

Information from Press Association was used in this report.
