The match, to take place at the Brondby Stadium, will be part of the Danish Superliga club's 50th anniversary celebrations.

It will be the first time the two sides have met since a two-legged UEFA Cup tie in 1995, when Liverpool drew the away leg 0-0, but were beaten 1-0 at home in the return as Brondby centre-back Dan Eggen scored the winner with a header.

The Reds' vice-captain Daniel Agger also has connections with the Danish club, for whom he played more than 50 games before Liverpool bought him for six million pounds in January 2006.

Billy Hogan, Liverpool's chief commercial officer, said: "Liverpool have a large following across Scandinavia, especially in Denmark, so it's really exciting that we will be bringing the club closer to our fans through this preseason friendly against the biggest team in the country."

Liverpool have already announced six other preseason games, including a tour of the United States.

Brendan Rodgers' side will visit League One side Preston North End on July 19, before heading to the States for four matches.

They will face Roma in Boston on July 23, Olympiakos in Chicago on July 27, Manchester City in New York on July 30 and AC Milan in Charlotte on Aug. 2.

The Reds will complete their preseason programme by facing last campaign's German Bundesliga runners-up Borussia Dortmund at Anfield on Sunday, Aug. 10.
