Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers insists goalkeeper Pepe Reina will not be for sale in the summer, dousing rumours that the Spaniard is considering a return to Barcelona.
Reina, 30, has been heavily backed to replace Victor Valdes at the Nou Camp if the Barca 'keeper leaves at the end of the season, despite having three years remaining on his contract at Anfield.
Earlier in the week, reports in the Spanish media suggested Liverpool would be reluctant to sell Reina but would not get in the way of a move to La Liga if the player asked for a release.
But Rodgers laughed off speculation Reina is no longer required at the club, insisting the 30-year-old is an important part of his future plans and hopes to see out his career with the Reds.
"It's that silly season now that starts up all the rumours and whatnot, but Pepe's not for sale," Rodgers said. "He's got three years left on his contract here, he's happy and obviously there's speculation but it's not worth commenting on."
