Lille have said they "respected and will respect the applicable procedures" on ending suspended coach Marcelo Bielsa's tenure.
Bielsa is due to meet Lille officials on Wednesday as part of the procedure laid down by French law that is likely to see him relieved of the role he took on full-time in the summer.
The former Argentina and Chile coach was provisionally suspended last week after a disastrous start to the season left Lille second from bottom of Ligue 1 after 14 games.
After spending around €60 million over the summer to build the squad Bielsa wanted, the club's new owners lost patience with their coach.
He responded on Tuesday by asking the French Football League (LFP) to look into the matter and placing the blame on Lille.
The club, who reports claim are seeking to avoid paying the estimated €14-16 million required to pay off the remaining 18 months of Bielsa's contract, said on Tuesday that they "owe it to ourselves to make certain precisions regarding the ongoing procedure."
A statement said: "LOSC and its directors would like to confirm they have respected and will respect the applicable rules and procedures in this matter."
