Ricardo Ferretti guides Tigres to epic victory in first-ever Clasico Regio finale

Tigres sealed its third Liga MX title in three years on Sunday.

MONTERREY, Mexico -- Tigres defeated Monterrey 2-1 to lift their sixth Liga MX crown against their local rivals after an epic final on Sunday. Tigres won the series 3-2 on aggregate over the two legs.

Here are three thoughts on the game:

1. Tigres spoil Monterrey's party

Monterrey came into the second leg in a strong position. Coach Antonio Mohamed had said after the 1-1 tie in Thursday's first leg that he would've been happy to have taken the opportunity to win one home game to be crowned champion....

Enner Valencia is destined to be next great Ecuador striker in Liga MX

Valencia has been superb for Tigres since returning to Liga MX but a title would seal his sparkling season.

During his 19-year playing career, Ecuador's Agustin "Tin" Delgado played for clubs like Cruz Azul, Necaxa and Pumas. He scored Ecuador's first-ever goal in a World Cup in 2002 in a match between Mexico and Ecuador, a match that the Mexican national team went on to win 2-1.

Tigres' Ricardo Ferretti needs Liga MX final win more than he admits

Watch as comedian and noted Tigres fan Rob Schneider conducts an interview in 'Spanglish' after the first leg of the Liga MX Apertura finals.

Most of the postgame news conference Thursday night was taken up by the Brazil-born manager explaining he was largely satisfied with his team's display but annoyed that Tigres couldn't convert chances to take a lead into Sunday's second leg.

Record 36,000 fans attend Tigres training ahead of second leg

Watch as comedian and noted Tigres fan Rob Schneider conducts an interview in 'Spanglish' after the first leg of the Liga MX Apertura finals.

MONTERREY, Mexico -- Tigres fans broke the Mexican record for number of fans attending a training session on Saturday, with 36,000 showing up at Estadio Universitario ahead of Sunday's Liga MX final second leg against local rival Monterrey.

The club announced on Friday that their final training ahead of the game against Rayados would be open to the public and fans responded by showing up in numbers that are higher than the average attendance this season for all but two Liga MX clubs -- Tigres and...

Pachuca hope strong organizational model yields results at Club World Cup

Pachuca has become the best run club in Mexico and is producing some of Mexico's top talent.
Pachuca is one of the best-run clubs in Mexico and now seeks to make an impact on the global stage.

Pachuca is in the United Arab Emirates at present, preparing to open its FIFA Club World Cup campaign on Saturday against Wydad Casablanca of Morocco. Los Tuzos represent not only the CONCACAF region and Liga MX, but also a club model that is arguably the most developed in the confederation.
