Eight Leicester City supporters have been given suspended four-month prison sentences after being found guilty of public disorder ahead of their club's Champions League quarterfinal first leg clash at Atletico Madrid this week.
The fans clashed with local police on Tuesday evening in Madrid's Plaza Mayor.
According to Spanish news agency EFE, the fans appeared in court on Thursday, one day after their team's 1-0 defeat at Atletico.
EFE reports that six of the eight supporters were also handed an additional suspended four-month prison term for offences against public authority with reports in Spain claiming that eight policemen were injured in the disturbances.
The cases were dealt with quickly as the fans admitted to the charges in exchange for more lenient sentences.
Around 2,800 fans were allocated tickets but several thousand Leicester supporters travelled to the Spanish capital. Leicester host Atletico on April 18 in the return leg.
