Leicester may have defied the odds once more on their Champions League debut, but manager Claudio Ranieri reckons even more is to come. City's surprise Premier League title success landed them a spot in Europe's premier club competition and, despite a mixed start to their domestic defence, they were outstanding on night one of the Champions League. A brace from Riyad Mahrez after Marc Albrighton's opener allowed them to win 3-0 at Club Brugge and give a nod towards another unexpected run of success. But, according to Ranieri, his side are capable of even more. "I said a clean sheet was important. We scored twice [in the first half] and it was important to keep going and be attentive so we don't make any mistakes," said the Italian. "We scored three goals but I don't think it was a perfect performance. We can improve a lot." Ex-Chelsea boss Ranieri was pleased with the way his side settled down after an understandably nervy start. "It is history because the first match we won away. It was important. I was a little scared at the beginning because Brugge had a chance to score," he added. "Then suddenly, the first action saw us score a goal with Albrighton. He deserved it because he's a hard worker and it was good. "After this, we were more calm and we could play our own match. Brugge had control of the ball and moved it well, but we had control of the match." The honour of scoring Leicester's first goal in the Champions League went to Albrighton. Although it was a routine close-range finish, the winger knows the significance of the strike. "It's massive. I'm not going to play it down because it's probably one of the biggest achievements of my career so far. It's massive for me and my family because it will live with me forever," he said on LCFC TV. "I can always look back and say I've done that and hopefully with a few more games left in the competition, I can chip in with a few more."
