Leicester's Kasper Schmeichel hopeful of quick return after hernia operation

Leicester City goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel is confident of a quick return after undergoing a hernia operation on Monday.

Schmeichel, 29, was substituted early in the second half of Leicester's 2-1 home win over Swansea after rushing from his area to make a clearance and was replaced by summer signing Ron-Robert Zieler.

The Denmark international had been struggling with a hernia problem for weeks, with manager Claudio Ranieri confirming that he would be fit for the trip to Liverpool on Sept. 10 following the international break.

However, Schmeichel is targeting an even earlier return as he tweeted that he hoped to be back in action for Denmark's game against Armenia at the weekend.

Denmark face Liechtenstein on Wednesday in a friendly before taking on Armenia on Sunday in their first World Cup qualifying game in Group E.
