New deals for Leicester pair Shakespeare and Walsh - sources

Leicester City assistant manager Craig Shakespeare and head of recruitment Steve Walsh have signed contract extensions with the Premier League champions, sources have told ESPN FC.

Shakespeare and Walsh were entering the final year of their deals after signing three-year contracts in 2014, and Leicester's hierarchy were keen to reward them for their roles in the club's dramatic success.

The two have a close working relationship with manager Claudio Ranieri, who is determined to keep his backroom team intact.

Walsh, credited with spotting and recruiting the likes of Jamie Vardy, Riyad Mahrez and N'Golo Kante, had been linked with other clubs following his success in the transfer market.

Reports have also suggested that former Leicester boss Nigel Pearson would look to work with Shakespeare and Walsh in his next managerial role, having brought them to Leicester.

Talks over new deals for the pair have been ongoing for some time, but now both have signed one-year extensions to keep them at the King Power Stadium until 2018.
