Ex-Argentina boss Alejandro Sabella hints at becoming Leeds manager

Former Argentina coach Alejandro Sabella says he has "unfinished business" at Leeds United, amid talk that he could be appointed the club's next manager.

Sabella, who is currently unemployed after leading the Albiceleste to the World Cup final this summer, joined Leeds as a player in 1980 before leaving the following year.

The Championship side have yet to bring in a replacement following David Hockaday's dismissal last month, and the Argentine has now become the bookmakers' favourite to succeed the former Forest Green Rovers boss.

"The Leeds situation is intriguing, and I feel I have unfinished business with that club," Sabella is reported by Sky Sports to have told the media.

Neil Redfearn is currently caretaker boss of the club, but owner Massimo Cellino has already ruled him out of the running.

"I'm thinking about a foreign coach, an international coach who I can work with," Cellino told the Yorkshire Evening Post. "We need to meet and talk but I think he could be good for us.

"It needs to be the right man, but I want Neil [Redfearn] to be involved with the first team in some way. He knows the young players, the players like him and they respect him. I respect him.

"The academy is his responsibility but I want it to be a team of coaches. He's shown that he knows what he's doing but I can't take him away from the academy completely."
