Norwich snap up Becchio
Norwich City have completed the signing of Leeds United striker Luciano Becchio, with Steve Morison moving in the opposite direction.
Becchio, 29, who scored 86 goals for Leeds, has agreed a three-and-a-half year contract at Carrow Road.
The former Barcelona B man, who will join ex-Leeds players Jonny Howson, Robert Snodgrass and Bradley Johnson at the club, cannot wait to make his bow in the Premier League.
“I spoke to Robert Snodgrass and Jonny Howson about Norwich and they both had really good things to say about the club and the city,” he told the club’s official website.
“I cannot wait to play my first game for Norwich. I am really happy about having the chance to play in the Premier League, it is brilliant for me personally and for my career. The Premier League has some brilliant players including people like [Sergio] Aguero and [Carlos] Tevez and it will be a great experience for me to play against players of that quality."
Becchio made it clear he wanted to leave Leeds earlier this month by submitting a transfer request, leading the Yorkshire club to accuse the player of making unreasonable demands.
The striker spent five-and-a-half years at Elland Road, while Morison, 29, leaves Carrow Road after an 18-month spell.
Norwich’s signing of Becchio follows that of striker Kei Kamara, signed on loan until the end of the season earlier this week.
Canaries boss Chris Hughton has been desperate to bolster his frontline all month and has had three bids rejected for Celtic frontman Gary Hooper, although a fourth offer is believed to have been made.
