Paulo Dybala on Barcelona: 'I would swim there'

Palermo forward Paulo Dybala says he would swim to Barcelona were the Catalan club to come in for him this summer.

Dybala, 21, is set to leave Palermo in July despite having two years left to run on his contract.

Club president Maurizio Zamparini said bad influences were leading him astray, which is why he plans on cashing in on a player he values at 40 million euros, and whom he said will turn out to be better than Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi.

Paris Saint-Germain or a club in the Premier League have been named by Zamparini as Dybala's most likely destination, but the Argentinian has said he would jump at the chance of moving to Spain and the Camp Nou.

"I would swim to Barcelona," he told radio station Radio Belgrano in his homeland, reports Corriere della Sera. "It's only just across the Mediterranean after all."

Dybala has scored 12 goals in Serie A this season and at one stage, it was suggested Italy coach Antonio Conte may sound him out about representing the Squadra Azzurra.

Dybala says there was never any substance to those reports, though, confirming that "nobody actually contacted me" about a potential senior callup.

"My dream remains to represent Argentina, my home country, and I'll do all I can to succeed."

Although he is set to leave Palermo in the next transfer window, Dybala insisted he has enjoyed his time in Sicily.

"The people here are very warm," he added. "People in Palermo are similar to in Argentina."
