While Verratti, 21, has been an established member of PSG's first-choice lineup in their back-to-back Ligue 1 title successes and featured for Italy at the World Cup, Rabiot, 19, has spent much of his PSG career on the bench as he attempts to impress coach Laurent Blanc.

France Football reports that the highly rated midfielder -- who is out of contract next summer -- received a contract extension offer from the French champions worth 250,000 euros-a-month, but rejected it as he wants a monthly salary of 300,000 euros, in line with Verratti's deal.

Rabiot -- who featured in 34 Ligue 1 games last season but who has yet to play in the current campaign -- reportedly came close to joining Roma in the summer transfer window, with PSG hoping to move the player on rather than lose him for free next year.

Rabiot has not been included in PSG's 21-man strong Champions League squad, although Roma coach Rudi Garcia -- who praised the 19-year-old as a "great footballer with great potential" -- insists his club have not reached an agreement with PSG for the midfielder.
