Lewis Holtby joins Hamburg from Tottenham Hotspur

Lewis Holtby has joined Hamburg on an initial loan from Tottenham Hotspur.

Hamburg have the option to make the move permanent as Holtby, 23, returns to the Bundesliga less than two years after his exit from Schalke.

German football weekly kicker has reported that Spurs will pay part of the midfielder's salary as part of the agreement.

Holtby, who has an English father, spent time on loan at Felix Magath's Fulham last season after struggling to make an impact at White Hart Lane.

Meanwhile, Croatia international Milan Badelj has agreed a move to Fiorentina which is set to earn the Bundesliga side four million euros, according to the Hamburger Morgenpost newspaper.

HSV announced on Sunday that the 25-year-old was in Italy to undergo a medical.

Norway international Per Skjelbred has also left Hamburg to return to Hertha Berlin, having spent last season on loan at the capital club.

Hertha announced on their official website that the midfielder has signed a three-year deal.

"Hertha BSC is my club," Skjelbred, who is reported to have cost 1.3 million euros, said. "I'm incredibly happy that I'm back here."
