Raul Jimenez not feeling any pressure

Atletico Madrid boss Diego Simeone says he will not comment on his eight-match touchline ban after watching his side play Rayo Vallecano from the stands.

New Atletico Madrid striker Raul Jimenez insists he feels no pressure in attempting to make up for the loss of Diego Costa.

- Walker: Atleti's party stalled by stalemate

Jimenez was brought in from Club America this summer following the departure of Costa to Chelsea.

Costa played a pivotal role in helping Atletico secure the Liga title last season, and coach Diego Simeone feels Jimenez is now the closest player to the Spain international that he has at his disposal.

"It's not pressure. It's another incentive that these types of comparisons are made about me," Jimenez said at his official unveiling on Wednesday.

"I would love to follow in the footsteps of a player of his stature. I have to score goals and provide assists."

The Mexico international, who made his Atletico debut in the 0-0 draw against Rayo Vallecano on Monday, grew up as a Real Madrid supporter.

However, he has reassured Atletico fans that they need not worry as his allegiances now lie solely with Simeone's side.

"That is in the past, with everything I have experienced here in this short time," he said.

"I have fallen in love with Atletico, I am in that process. I want to make history with this club."

Jimenez added on his first appearance for Atletico: "I was very happy to make my Liga debut. It's important to get started on new challenges.

"We played well in the first half but in the second maybe you could see the tiredness from the Spanish Super Cup, but I think the team showed we are ready to defend the title."
