Hull boss Steve Bruce has confirmed that his club has a deal is in place to sign 30-year-old Dawson, but Tottenham are unwilling to release their club captain until they have signed a replacement.

Argentina international Fazio, 27, is the central defender Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino has targeted in the final week of this summer's transfer window and his towering 6'5" frame would add to the powerful options available to Spurs in the heart of their defence.

Reports suggest Spurs are willing to pay Sevilla's eight million pound asking price for Fazio, who is expected to arrive in London imminently to conclude the move.

The departure of Dawson will bring down the curtain on his nine and a half year spell at the club, in a Spurs career that has included 236 Premier League games.
