San Jose Earthquakes designated player Matias Perez Garcia faces 4-6 weeks on the sideline after having knee surgery on Wednesday. The midfielder had arthroscopic surgery on his right knee to repair a torn meniscus, an injury he suffered against FC Dallas on Aug. 16. Perez Garcia, who signed with the Earthquakes as a DP on July 31, scored in his debut against the Los Angeles Galaxy on Aug. 8. But with a little more than two months left in the MLS regular season, his chances of returning in time to spark San Jose toward a playoff spot is in jeopardy.
