A statement on Chelsea's official website read: "Marko Marin has today joined Fiorentina on loan for the 2014/15 campaign. The Serbian-born German international will link up with the Italian side ahead of the Serie A season, which begins with an away game against Ashley Cole's Roma on Aug. 30."
The versatile midfielder was considered one of the most promising talents in Germany -- on a par with the likes of Marco Reus and Mario Gotze -- in his years at Borussia Monchengladbach and Werder Bremen, impressing with the latter between 2009 and 2012.
But Marin -- who can play on either wing and also behind the strikers -- struggled to break into the Chelsea first-team following a 12 million-euro move two summers ago, making just 16 appearances as he struggled with numerous muscle injuries.
The 25-year-old spent the 2013-14 campaign on loan at Sevilla, with the Liga side winning the Europa League -- but Marin's future now lies in Serie A for the next year.
