Olympiakos and Manchester City also got the better of a Milan side that finished last season in eighth position in Serie A. Inzaghi has only been in charge for a month, and said it would take time before the team were performing in the way he would like them to. "I'm sorry about this unwarranted result, but I got the answers I was looking for," he told a postmatch news conference. "We were excellent for half an hour in the second half, and I think their second goal flattered them a bit. We reacted well and I'm happy with my lads. I can't remember our goalkeeper having to make a save, but theirs did. "We need to continue with this spirit and this desire. All I can say to my lads is to carry on like this and, when we meet opponents back home in Italy, our true value will emerge. "Maybe we were just a bit naive -- we conceded two goals when we were in possession, but it's my choice to play the ball out from the back. We are Milan, and we can't throw the ball away the way we have." Inzaghi said he wanted his players to "get rid of some of the fear we had last year," adding: "We were up against one of the strongest sides in Europe today, and we held our own rather well. With this desire and determination in Italy, we could do well."
