Transfer Rater: Douglas Costa to Man United

Football Whispers

Hernandez unsure of United future

Javier Hernandez has admitted he does not know if he will stay at Manchester United.

- Payne: Five things we learned from Manchester United vs. Inter Milan
- Scholes: Too late for United call
- Zaha confident of second chance at United

The Mexico international is a target for Atletico Madrid whose manager Diego Simeone said "anything is possible" in his pursuit of the striker.

And Hernandez said he is unsure where he will be plying his trade next season.

"The future, only God knows," he told reporters after United's penalty shootout victory over Inter Milan.

The 26-year-old only started six league games last season and has been used as a substitute by new manager Louis van Gaal in United's preseason fixtures.

Wayne Rooney and Danny Welbeck have been the Dutchman's preferred strikers so far, while Robin van Persie is expected to feature prominently when he returns, while Wilfried Zaha and Nani have also been used as attackers.

And Hernandez added: "There is competition here and I will continue to work hard as I always do."

Manager Van Gaal, when asked in Washington if he would consider letting Hernandez go, replied: "That I cannot answer because he is a player of Manchester United at this moment."

Hernandez has also been linked with Inter Milan and his former United captain Nemanja Vidic, who has moved to the San Siro, told British newspapers: "He is a great player. He is a Manchester United player but he can play in any team. He is a great professional. That is all I can say."
