Thomas Tuchel not in for Germany role

Thomas Tuchel will not be joining Germany's backroom staff as assistant coach to replace Hansi Flick, the former Mainz coach's spokesman has confirmed.

Having sat alongside Joachim Low in the dugout as their team won the World Cup, Flick will begin a new role as sporting director of the German FA (DFB) on Sept. 1.

Low, 54, has confirmed he will remain in his post to lead the world champions into Euro 2016, but Tuchel, who has been out of work since leaving Mainz in May, will not be working alongside him.

"I can definitely rule out that Thomas Tuchel will be Hansi Flick's successor -- that has never been a debate," Tuchel's spokesman, Felix Ahns, told Sky Sport News HD.

"Moreover, there have never been any talks between the DFB and Thomas Tuchel regarding this."

German media speculate that either Germany under-20 coach Frank Wormuth or under-19 boss Marcus Sorg will be the man to step into Flick's shoes.
