Hull sign Maguire and Robertson

Hull City manager Steve Bruce has strengthened his defensive ranks with the double signing of Andrew Robertson and Harry Maguire from Dundee United and Sheffield United.

In an announcement on their official website, the Tigers said they had paid 2.5 million pounds for Blades centre-back Maguire, 21, and 2.85 million pounds for Scotland left-back Robertson.

The Premier League club's move for 20-year-old Robertson continues the rapid rise that saw him switch to Tannadice from amateur outfit Queen's Park in 2013.

United manager Jackie McNamara earlier confirmed that the Hull deal would see 21-year-old Hull left-back Conor Townsend move to his club on a season-long loan.

Robertson made his debut for Scotland as a substitute against Poland earlier this year, and was then handed a starting role in the friendly against Nigeria at Fulham.

Maguire, who came through the ranks at Bramall Lane to win a regular place in the first team, has been United's Player of the Year in each of the last three seasons.

He made 166 appearances for the club and also won one England under-21 cap.
