Everton swoop for Muhamed Besic

Besic was part of Bosnia-Herzegovina's World Cup team.

Everton have confirmed the signing of Bosnia midfielder Muhamed Besic from Hungarian club Ferencvaros on a five-year contract.

- O'Farrell: Besic could shine for Everton
- Martinez coy on Lukaku signing

The deal was completed after Besic -- who moves to Goodison Park for an undisclosed fee -- travelled to Thailand with the Toffees squad for Sunday's 1-0 friendly defeat against Leicester in Bangkok but did not play.

He becomes Everton's second confirmed signing of the summer, following the arrival of fellow midfielder Gareth Barry, who made his loan move from Manchester City permanent earlier this month.

Born in Berlin, 21-year-old Besic began his professional career with Hamburg before moving to Hungary to join Ferencvaros in 2012.

He played in all three of Bosnia and Herzegovina's matches at their first-ever World Cup finals as they exited in the group stage.

Everton manager Roberto Martinez told the club's official website: "Muhamed is a young footballer who has developed massively in the last two seasons.

"He has been playing as a centre-half and as a defensive midfielder at an incredible level. What he did with Bosnia and Herzegovina in the World Cup was that he showed that he is a really mature footballer. He is very dynamic and technically very gifted."

Martinez is also hoping to sign teenage Anderlecht forward David Henen before the end of the week.
