QPR manager Harry Redknapp has said he is confident the newly-promoted Londoners will finalise a deal for former Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand.

Ferdinand has been linked with a move to Loftus Road since it became clear that he would be leaving United and Redknapp, his one-time manager at West Ham, said he was keen to join.

The 35-year-old is returning from the World Cup in Brazil, where he has been working as an analyst for the BBC, and Redknapp said further talks would be taking place soon.

Speaking to talkSPORT on Tuesday, he said: "I am going to meet him, and hopefully we can get it sorted.

"He has not been difficult to deal with. He wants to play, and he is not expensive."

QPR are also reported to be interested in Tottenham defender Michael Dawson, part of Redknapp's lineup during his days at White Hart Lane -- but he stressed that no offer had been made.

"I like Michael," Redknapp said. "He is a top player and a great lad as well. You would have Michael in your team any day of the week, but we haven't made any offers for him."
