Coman hopes to copy Pogba at Juve

Kingsley Coman hopes to follow in the footsteps of Paul Pogba after completing a move to Juventus from Paris Saint-Germain this summer.

Coman, 18, joins the Serie A champions on a free transfer after his PSG contract expired. The move is similar to the one which saw Paul Pogba join the Bianconeri from Manchester United two summers ago.

Since then Pogba has won two Serie A titles, established himself in the France side and been named the best young player at the 2014 World Cup.

Zinedine Zidane, Didier Deschamps and Michel Platini, all France legends, have also excelled at Juventus.

And Coman believes it is possible he too could become one of the hottest properties in European football.

"Juve have a good history with French players," Coman told L'Equipe. "Some have gone on to do great things, so I asked myself 'why not me?' The management have laid out their project and I felt it was not just 'blah-blah-blah'.

"I'm not guaranteeing that I will follow the same path as Paul Pogba and emerge as quickly as he has, but if I'm given the means to do so, then there's always a possibility."

Coman had the pick of some of Europe's elite but chose Juventus but almost took the option of guaranteed first-team football at Bordeaux.

"I thought about it a lot," he said. "First of all, I had to take a decision about my relationship with PSG, and then there were Arsenal, Liverpool, [Bayer] Leverkusen, Bayern Munich and Bordeaux who wanted me.

"I hesitated a lot these past few weeks because of Bordeaux and after having spoken to their coach [Willy Sagnol]. He had offered me playing time, but it was too late -- I had already started planning for Juve."

Coman's move to Turin was made official on July 1, once the summer transfer market opened. Two weeks later, he was due to commence preseason training with his new colleagues on Monday, where he will also be joined by Carlos Tevez.

The former Manchester United and Manchester City forward has returned from his summer vacation on time to join the Serie A champions for their first workout on Monday afternoon.
