Transfer Rater: Luka Modric to Tottenham

Football Whispers

Patrice Evra close to Juventus move

Four years ago Patrice Evra was the ring-leader of in-fighting and strikes in the France squad and now he claims that the French side are united.

Patrice Evra is getting closer to sealing a move to Juventus after the Italian club made an approach for him and the left-back informed Manchester United he would like to leave.

- Van Gaal's United debut will be in U.S.
- Nike to end United kit deal
- Brewin: Van Gaal a drastic change from Moyes

The France international has not submitted a transfer request but United are conscious that he has family reasons for wanting to quit Old Trafford, sources told ESPN FC.

The 33-year-old's wife is believed to be unhappy in Manchester and, although he only signed a new contract in May, he is ready to bring his eight-year stay at Old Trafford to an end.

Juventus have contacted United about the former Monaco player, who is only likely to command a small fee because of his age and as he is out of contract again in 2015.

Any such move would not be a part-exchange deal for Juventus midfielder Arturo Vidal, who is a target for United.

The 13-times Premier League champions are yet to bid for the Chilean midfielder, who new manager Louis van Gaal has identified as a player he wants to add to his squad.

The Dutchman has already recruited a replacement for Evra, with Southampton's Luke Shaw sealing his 27 million pound-move to Old Trafford.

However, with Evra's former deputy Alexander Buttner signing for Dinamo Moscow, United may need to bring in another left-back should the Frenchman leave.

They have been linked with Switzerland's Ricardo Rodriguez.
