Caballero joined the Premier League champions earlier this week in a 4.4 million pound move.

The Argentine, a former international, will provide competition for England goalkeeper Joe Hart, who reclaimed his place as No.1 after being dropped for a spell last season.

"I knew that Manchester City were interested in me so I tried to do my best for my previous club to make the move to a very big club possible," he told the Manchester Evening News. "Finally it's a reality, and I will try to prove myself.

"The first goal is to do things well and show why City were interested in me. It would be good to get back with the national team, and hopefully I can achieve that."

City boss Manuel Pellegrini was Caballero's boss at Malaga, and he added: "I think his best quality is giving players the confidence to achieve their potential."
