Marvin Sordell joins Burnley

Marvin Sordell celebrates after levelling the scores against Everton
Bolton signed Marvin Sordell from Watford in 2012.

Burnley have made a double signing by bringing in striker Marvin Sordell from Bolton for an undisclosed fee and midfielder Matt Taylor from West Ham on a free transfer.

The Premier League newcomers have taken their total of summer additions to four following on from the arrivals of Blackpool goalkeeper Matt Gilks and Stoke winger Michael Kightly.

Sordell has put pen to paper on a deal that lasts for three years while Taylor has signed on for two years at Turf Moor.

The 23-year-old forward worked with Burnley manager Sean Dyche during his time in charge of Watford.

He moved to Bolton for three million pounds in January 2012 but struggled to make an impact at the Reebok Stadium, starting just 13 league games in two-and-a-half years and spending last season on loan at Charlton.

The vastly experienced Taylor, 32, is another former Bolton player and, apart from one season in the Championship, has played regular Premier League football in every season since 2003-04.

The former Portsmouth and West Ham man can operate in the centre of midfield or on either flank and scored three goals in 87 games during a three-year stay at Upton Park.

Taylor's arrival offsets the loss of winger Junior Stanislas, who joined Bournemouth, while Sordell's signing gives Burnley another option in attack.

Striker Sam Vokes, who scored 21 times in their promotion-winning campaign, is set to miss the start of the season because of a cruciate ligament injury.
