Veteran defenders Ricardo Carvalho and Eric Abidal will be staying in France after signing new deals at Monaco. The centre-backs, who helped the principality club to a second-placed finish in Ligue 1 last season, are now tied to the club until the summer of 2015. Portugal international Carvalho, 36, started all but one of Monaco's league matches last season, while Abidal, 34, featured in 26 games. New Monaco boss Leonardo Jardim will also be hoping for some clarity on the futures of Colombian stars Radamel Falcao and James Rodriguez in the coming weeks. Falcao, 28, who has been out of action since suffering a cruciate ligament injury in January, has been linked with a move to Real Madrid. On Wednesday L'Equipe reported that Argentine midfielder Angel Di Maria, 26 could move in the opposite direction along with one other Real Madrid player. James Rodriguez, 22, who has scored five goals in four games at the World Cup, has also emerged as a target after the midfielder admitted that he would one day like to play for Real Madrid. A more likely transfer is that of Lucas Ocampos, who is on the radar of Marseille, according to L'Equipe. The winger from Argentina, 19, joined Monaco from River Plate two years ago for a fee of 10 million euros.
