Greece shock Ivory Coast, 10 years on from Euros (1:37)

Greece are into the last 16 of the FIFA World Cup for the first time in their history after beating Ivory Coast 2-1. (1:37)

Yaya Toure has claimed Ivory Coast's controversial World Cup exit was "a scandal" but believes no one cares because they are an African nation.

Three-time African Footballer of the Year Toure was part of an Ivorian side who entered stoppage time of their final group game against Greece on course to qualify for the round of 16 for the first time in their history.

But then substitute Giovanni Sio was adjudged to have fouled Georgios Samaras and the Greece striker scored the resulting penalty to seal a 2-1 win and send his side through instead.

And Manchester City midfielder Toure accused Samaras of diving and feels officials hindered his country throughout their campaign.

He told France Football: "I desperately wanted the referee to spot the simulation of Samaras. Once again, the refereeing was not on our side. We had at least two penalties turned down during our game against Japan.

"And this time, one is invented against Greece. Of course, it does not upset anyone because it only concerns an African team.

"Who really cares about the injustices of an African team? This mistake deprives us of something huge. It is a scandal that unfortunately does not seem to bother many people."
