Kevin-Prince Boateng done with Ghana

Ghana coach James Kwesi Appiah discusses the overall performance with the African teams that participated in the tournament.

Kevin-Prince Boateng has played his last game for Ghana after being sent home during the World Cup, according to the director of sport at his club, Schalke.

Boateng, 27, was told to pack his bags by Ghana coach Kwesi Appiah after the pair reportedly had a heated exchange following a training session.

The former AC Milan and Tottenham midfielder was "suspended indefinitely" by the Ghana Football Association (GFA) on Friday, the same day as their third and final Group G match against Portugal, a 2-1 defeat for the Black Stars which saw both sides eliminated.

Sulley Muntari was also expelled on the morning of the match for an alleged "unprovoked physical attack" on a GFA official.

Schalke chief Horst Heldt does not expect the issues to be resolved and believes that Boateng -- who returned to the Ghana set-up for the tournament in Brazil having previously quit international football three years earlier -- will not therefore return to representing his country.

"I cannot really imagine him playing for Ghana again," Heldt told Germany newspaper Bild.

However, Heldt does not expect any negative repercussions for Schalke, who will again be competing in the Champions League next season after finishing fourth in the Bundesliga last term.

"I'm certain this World Cup and his suspension is not going to burden him," he added. "In fact, anybody who knows Boateng will know that he will actually be even more motivated by the whole thing."
