Nigeria players 'resolve bonus row'

Nigeria coach Stephen Keshi praises Lionel Messi's performance and the difficulties his team faced against Argentina.

Joseph Yobo has said Nigeria have put a row over appearance bonuses behind them and are fully focused on their World Cup round of 16 meeting with France.

- Babatunde ruled out of World Cup
- Keshi says Nigeria can still improve

A training session was cancelled after the players failed to arrive when a meeting called to demand the payment of the appearance fees overran, KickOffNigeria.com reported.

The players, who face France in the round of 16, had been due to attend the 6 p.m. session in Campinas on Thursday, but did not turn up to catch the team coach to the training ground.

Nigeria spokesman Ben Alaiya initially said they were in a meeting and would train later -- but in the event the session was cancelled.

KickOffNigeria.com said the Super Eagles squad had agreed a graduated percentage payment for each stage of the tournament and wanted the first part of that -- for getting through the group stage -- to be paid.

But Yobo indicated that the matter had been resolved, telling the website: "We are here to play for our country, and I can tell you as team captain that the team will travel to Brasilia today and we will train and play against France."

Earlier, the Nigerian football federation said general secretary Musa Amadu had left Sao Paulo and returned to Nigeria to deal with the issue.

An official told KickOffNigeria.com: "Funds were only released for the group stages, so he has gone to get more for the second round."
