It remains unclear as to whether Barcelona will attempt to sign Liverpool striker Luis Suarez after he was banned from all football activity for four months and suspended for nine international matches after being found guilty of biting Italy's Giorgio Chiellini.
FIFA's independent disciplinary panel confirmed the punishment on Thursday after the Uruguay international bit the defender during the latter stages of the 1-0 World Cup victory on Tuesday.
Although Suarez will not play again until at least September, world football's governing body has announced that the ban from "any kind of football-related activity" does not include transfers, meaning Liverpool could sell him before it ends.
The striker is under contract until 2018 but has a release clause in that deal, with reports suggesting it is somewhere between 65 million and 80 million pounds.
Barcelona are reportedly interested in Suarez and there has been talk that Alexis Sanchez could move the other way as part of a deal to bring the former Ajax man to the Camp Nou .
It remains to be seen, however, whether the Blaugrana will follow up the apparent interest with a firm offer.
Liverpool were non-committal over how they intend to deal with Suarez when they released a short statement on Thursday.
Ian Ayre, the club's chief executive officer, told Liverpool's official website: "Liverpool Football Club will wait until we have seen and had time to review the FIFA Disciplinary Committee report before making any further comment."
