Luis Alberto set for Malaga loan move

Liverpool forward Luis Alberto will complete a season-long loan move to Malaga on Thursday after passing a medical, sources have told ESPN FC.

The Spain under-21 international is to return to La Liga after a one million pound loan fee was agreed.

Alberto has struggled to make an impact on Merseyside since arriving from Sevilla for 6.8 million pounds in June 2013.

The 21-year-old has made just nine Premier League appearances, all of them as a substitute, with his only two starts for the Reds coming in cup competitions.

But Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers believes Alberto still has the potential to succeed in England, and is hoping that his development will be aided by a year of regular top-flight football in Spain.

Alberto is still relatively inexperienced at the highest level, having played most of his football for the B teams of Sevilla and Barcelona.
