Arsenal captain Thomas Vermaelen has denied suggestions he is on his way to Manchester United.

The 20-time English champions are reportedly interested in the defender, who worked with incoming United manager Louis van Gaal during his Ajax days.
However, Vermaelen, who is currently at the World Cup with Belgium, says that rumours of a 10 million-pound move to Old Trafford are false.
He told Sky Sports News: "I know there has been a lot of talk and a lot of rumours but the only thing I can say is that it's not true."
Vermaelen has lost his place in the Arsenal team, with Laurent Koscielny and Per Mertesacker having established themselves as Arsene Wenger's first-choice centre-back pairing.
The Gunners, though, could risk losing the Belgium international on a free transfer next summer if a new deal is not agreed.
Vermaelen added: "Everybody understands my situation at Arsenal and that I have one year left [on my contract].
"I understand that people are going to talk but I am here in Brazil and I am enjoying my time and I'm focused on what I am doing."
Vermaelen remained coy when asked if he had held talks with Wenger about signing a new deal with the club.
He said: "We talk a lot when I am at Arsenal but it's not what I am going to discuss here, it is something you are going to have to ask him."
