Cesena promoted to Serie A

Alessandro Bruno celebrates after scoring for Cesena.

Cesena have secured their return to Serie A with a 2-1 win over Latina in the Serie B promotion playoff final second leg, securing a 4-2 aggregate win.

Latina had levelled the tie on aggregate when Alessandro Bruno scored after 13 minutes, but Gregoire Defrel levelled on the night seven minutes into the second half before Emmanuel Cascione's stoppage-time penalty rubber-stamped Cesena's promotion.

It ends a two-year stint in the second tier for Cesena, who are currently coached by Pierpaolo Bisoli and play their home matches at the Stadio Dino Manuzzi.

Palermo and Empoli, the Serie B champions and runners-up, will also compete in the Italian top flight during the 2014-15 season.
