Stoke wrap up deals for Diouf, Teixeira

Mame Biram Diouf is a former Manchester United player.

Stoke City have agreed deals to sign striker Mame Biram Diouf and defender Dionatan Teixeira.

Diouf, a former Manchester United player who also spent time on loan at Blackburn, will join the Potters on July 1 when his contract with Hannover 96 expires.

The Senegal international has agreed a four-year deal, and his signing finally ends Stoke's search for a striker after Juan Agudelo was twice denied a work permit to join the club.

Diouf hit 25 goals in 57 league appearances for Hannover and has long been attracting interest from the Potters.

"It's no secret that Mame is someone we have been looking to bring to the club for some time," Stoke chief executive Tony Scholes told the club's official website.

"Mark Hughes has wanted to sign Mame since he took over as manager last year. We tried to get him last summer and made another attempt in January, so we're naturally delighted to have finally secured his services.

"He has been a tremendous success in Germany as his record underlines and he is keen to return to England make an impact in the Premier League. We're pleased to be able to give him the platform to hopefully achieve that ambition.

"Mark is looking forward to working with Mame, who is himself excited about the prospect of linking up with rest of the squad in July."

The Potters, meanwhile, have paid an undisclosed fee to Banska Bystrica for Teixeira.

The Brazilian-born centre-back made 29 league appearances for the Slovak club and has signed a three-year contract with Stoke.

Scholes added: "We have been following Dionatan's progress for some time and we're delighted to have secured his services because there's no doubt he's a talented player with a great deal of potential."

Diouf and Teixeira join Phil Bardsley and Steve Sidwell as Stoke's new signings ahead of the 2014-15 Premier League season.
