Reading have six senior players unavailable for the visit of Huddersfield

Hal Robson-Kanu, Stephen Kelly, Danny Williams, Jem Karacan (all knee), Garath McCleary (back) and Danny Guthrie (calf) are all in the treatment room.

New signings Jamie Mackie and Anton Ferdinand are also not expected to feature as they continue to build up their match fitness.

But striker Pavel Pogrebnyak managed to get through the 90 full minutes of Saturday's 1-0 win over Ipswich despite sustaining a dead leg so he should be fine to continue.

Huddersfield caretaker manager Mark Lillis may freshen up his starting XI but will be selecting from the same squad which lost at Cardiff on Saturday.

The Terriers, who lost captain Lee Peltier to a groin injury in the Capital One Cup win over Chesterfield, are bottom of the table following that 3-1 defeat in Wales and a 4-0 drubbing at home to Bournemouth which led to the early exit of Mark Robins, but Lillis insists spirits are far from down in the dressing room.

"There was a lot of belief in the dressing room that we could get something from the game at Cardiff and had we kept it at 2-1 for a little longer in the second half, we could have got back in it," he told the club website. "We also kept going right until the very end."

James Vaughan is one of several missing players due to resume training and Lillis could be bolstered by more reinforcements for Saturday's home clash with Charlton.
