Lazio bring in Louis Saha

Free agent Louis Saha has signed for Lazio after having been released by Sunderland last month.

Louis Saha is desperate to play against his old club
Louis Saha struggled at Sunderland this season

The Rome-based club have turned to the 34-year-old striker after learning that leading-scorer Miroslav Klose will miss up to two months with collateral ligament damage in his knee.

Lazio confirmed on their official website that a press conference will take place at 19.00 local time to unveil the former Manchester United man, who is set to join Vladimir Petkovic’s squad in time for this weekend’s key clash with Napoli.

Early on Wednesday morning, Saha indicated via his Twitter account that he was heading for the Italian capital.

Corriere dello Sport claim a five-month contract has been agreed, keeping him with the Biancocelesti until the end of the current campaign. The sports daily also say Saha will earn around €500,000 during his stay.

The former France international had his contract with Sunderland terminated on transfer deadline day after joining them last August on a short-term deal. He made 14 appearances under Martin O’ Neill, failing to score a single goal.
