The LA Galaxy announced on Wednesday that forward Ola Kamara has signed a new three-year contract. As first reported by ESPN FC last week, the new deal will put his annual salary around $1 million, according to multiple sources with knowledge of the deal. Kamara was acquired by the Galaxy during the offseason from Columbus Crew SC in exchange for forward Gyasi Zardes and $400,000 in targeted allocation money. He was expected to be the starting forward for the Galaxy, and could now be part of a two-pronged attack with the recent arrival of superstar striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic. But the new contract shows it's clear that Kamara remains firmly in the Galaxy's plans. "We are excited that Ola will remain with the LA Galaxy in the coming years," coach Sigi Schmid said in a statement. "He has proven himself to be one of the most productive forwards in MLS over the past two seasons and we are confident that will continue as a member of our club. We look forward to him being a focal point in our offense." Kamara has been a consistent scorer in MLS since arriving prior to the 2016 season. With Columbus, Kamara recorded 35 goals in 64 league and playoff appearances. This season with the Galaxy he has scored one goal in three appearances. Prior to joining Columbus, Kamara spent time on the books of Stromsgodset and Molde in his native Norway, as well as Austrian Wien and 1860 Munich. Kamara has made 10 appearances with Norway's national team, with three of his four goals coming in a hat trick against Australia last month.
