LA Galaxy's Ola Kamara: 'This season is going to be different'

Craig Burley evaluates the latest transfer reports involving Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Aymeric Laporte, Alisson and more.
Former LA Galaxy forward Herculez Gomez reacts to ESPN's report the club are nearing a deal to bring in Zlatan Ibrahimovic in 2018.

Ola Kamara insists 2018 will be different for the LA Galaxy.

The Galaxy are looking to rebound from a disappointing 2017 in which the five-time MLS Cup champions finished 11th in the Western Conference and out of the playoffs.

The club defeated New York City FC 3-0 in a preseason match on Saturday, and Kamara, who was with Columbus Crew SC last year, said, while a friendly win shouldn't be taken out of proportion, it could be a sign of an improved campaign this season.

"We're getting fit," Kamara said. "I think people saw that. And this season is going to be different."

Although Kamara, a forward, was quick to caution that preseason feats don't always predict what will happen once the games begin counting.

He said: "I haven't scored a goal in preseason the last three years, so I don't know if it's positive to score now or not.

"But the fitness is good and it's always a good feeling scoring goals. I love that."
